Lerici: the castle and the harbour
Copyright APTClick to see this picture in a new window

It is the precious jewel of the Gulf, the everlasting memory of Shelley and Byron.

By the little harbour we still find the ancient Pisan village, born more or less in the XIII century, with its turreted walls.

The most important monument in Lerici is the Castle, an extraordinary example of italian architecture in the Middle Ages. The pentagonal tower, built by the Pisans, is part of the genoese fortification, constructed after the Meloria battle in 1256.

The parish church, a baroque building, shows valuable pictures in its interior.
